Better ping for linux machines

    I created a better looking and more succinct ping command for my normal use on my linux machine. It colorizes the output to make it easier to read, and uses red colors to show packet loss. Here is the script:

    Put this in /usr/local/bin/ping, chmod a+x it, then add the following to your .bashrc file:


        /usr/local/bin/ping "[email protected]"
    Now, when you run ping, you get 4 executions and colorized output. This is a good example that shows how to use the cmdline tools to improve your own local machine! You can put this on your server and use it when you're doing general server management stuff.
