Use Variables in different plugin commands

Hi, I'm trying to use variables in a /tp command. On the craftbook wiki, it states:
"Variables can also be configured to work in commands from other plugins, and can be configured to be enabled separately in both the Console and Players. ... If this syntax breaks a command of another plugin, it is possible to cancel out the variable syntax by adding \ before each % sign of the variable."

However, if I were to write:
    /tp @p \%x\% 0 0

I would get an error saying that \%x\% is not an integer.

Do I need to enable a permission that I haven't checked(I went through and set true to everything under Variables in mechanisms.yml)? Thanks for any solutions.

    You should be using /tp @p %x% 0 0, not \%x\%

Thank you so much! I had tried that, but for some reason it wasn't working.. I must have used a silly syntax error over and over. Thank you for the response!
